Àgbà kì í wà l’ọja kí orí ọmọ tuntun wọ̀.

An elder cannot be in the marketplace while a newborn’s head sits crooked. Wisdom should prevent obvious mistakes.

Ọwọ́ ọmọde kò tó pẹ̀pẹ̀, tàgbàlagbà kò wọ kérégbé.

A child’s hand cannot reach the high shelf, and an elder’s hand cannot fit in a small gourd. Each stage of life has different capacities, and people complement one another.
